Fife Walking

These are some of the sleep walking stories in the Fife household since Simon's birth.

Multiple times within the first month Peter (and I a few times) would wake up in a panic and frantically search the sheets for Simon. Every time Simon was sleeping soundly in his bassinet or nursing in my arms.

Sometime within the first two weeks after Simon’s birth was Peter’s best sleep walking story post Simon. I'm nursing Simon in bed when Peter bolts up and kinda crawls towards the foot of the bed. He is staring at the ceiling.
P: "It's okay, Jill. I've got this, I got this, you just go back to bed."
J: "Peter, what's going on?"
P: "Don't worry, just go to sleep."
J: "Peter, why are you staring at the ceiling??"
I can see some realization in his expression and he, confused, goes back to sleep.
It turns out, he was dreaming that Simon was nursing on our ceiling light. You know the kind, the flush mount ones my sister affectionately coined "boob lights". So he thought Simon was nursing on this boob light and was afraid that if he unlatched then the suction would end and he would fall. Peter didn't want me to see because I would freak out which is why he was trying to get me to go back to sleep. Haha

He once tried burping his pillow.

Peter has fallen asleep in bed and I just got done putting Simon in his bassinet next to our bed. As I go to lay down Peter pops up and cradles my head in his hands and helps me lower it to my pillow.
P: "It's okay. I got it. You can lay down."
J: "Thank you."
P: "You're welcome."
He puts his phone delicately on my sternum.
P: "This is just going to balance out and hold that shelf. There you go."
He then pats my arm.
P: "You've got to be careful. You could've done some real damage to his head!"
I just laugh at him because there is no shelf even near us and Simon is not in my arms.

P: "Are you going to eat after the chocolate dome... chocolate pizza... ahhhhhhh the orange?"
Me: "... nope! Go ahead."

Simon :: two months

Simon:
Smiling a lot more
My favorite thing is his scrunchy face when he is an eager eater
On the verge of laughter
Figuring out reflux and doing much better
Cooing
Sometimes sleeping through the night
Almost too tall for some 0-3 month outfits
Loves walks in the stroller
Not loving car rides as much
Hates when he feels alone or when it's too quiet
Daddy's boy
Follows daddy with his eyes all around the room
Eating for 10 minutes on each side now
Got his passport!

Me:
Eager to have him sleep through the night
Just caught a flu and Peter held down the fort
Wearing non pajamas more and more
Just started work up again 4hr/day from home
Working out is still on the todo list

Simon :: one month

Simon:
Loves his pacifier
Loves finding the Christmas lights
Doesn't poop for days at a time
Went on his first walk
Loves getting his diaper changed
Loves noise like chaotic family events

Me:
Decreasing milk is the worst
Days are a blur
Getting the hang of putting him to sleep well
The adrenaline is gone and sleep deprivation has caught up to me
So appreciative of everyone who has been spoiling us with yummy dinners and gifts
